'Hood Bloomsbury, in the quieter, leafier portion of the city's West End theater and nightlife district, and home to artists for generations. Overlooking the British Museum, the hotel is a block from London's up-and-coming fashion shops, such as French's Dairy.

The Gist Part of the small Grange Hotels boutique chain in Britain, this three-story hotel has a Georgian look on the outside, but a contemporary business feel on the inside. Its 60 rooms are unusually spacious for London and come in two main types, smallish rooms with twin or double beds and generic decor, and suites with four-poster beds. A substantial English breakfast is included in the room rate and is served in a restaurant overlooking the hotel's manicured lawns and colorful gardens. Online reviewers complain about the lack of air conditioning in guest rooms.

Free Wi-Fi? No. In the lounge area, WiFi is available for a charge. In guest rooms, connect by cable for an Internet usage fee of about £10 per day.
