"El Castillo at Chichen Itza. On the Spring and Autumn equinox, at the rising and setting of the sun, the corner of the structure casts a shadow in the shape of a plumed serpent along the west side of the north staircase. The shadows from the corner tiers slither down the northern side of the pyramid with the sun's movement to the serpent's head at the base."
"The Grand Pyramid at Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico. I visited Chichen Itxa in March 2009 and was lucky enough to pretty much have the ruins to myself for awhile until the buses pulled in. What a great place to visit!"
"Just a portion of one of Diego Rivera's murals adorning the walls of the National Palace in Mexico City, to better show some of the detail in his amazing artwork."
"A view of the courtyard inside the walls of the National Palace in Mexico City, a small portion of the government building that is open to the public."
"I have been to Hawaii and you can pretty much count on seeing a rainbow before you go home. After going to a museum it started to rain. I got out the camera and did my best to stay out of the rain. A rainbow was the last thing I thought I would see on this trip."

"Sayulita is a quaint fishing village on the Mexican Pacific Coast north of Puerto Vallarta. It has become popular with surfers and has grown quite a bit over the past several years, yet still retains its small town charm."
"This is the beach in Zihuatanejo covered with small fishing boats. It is such a quaint, sleepy little fishing village and the people are all very friendly. It has a laid-back vibe that is totally different from the big cities like Acapulco and Puerto Vallarta. You can totally relax here, and if you want a little nightlife and excitement, Ixtapa is only a ten-minutecab ride away."
"This is the boat jetty in the sleepy fishing village of Puerto Morelos on the Yucatan Peninsula. It's about 20 miles South of Cancun, and could hardly represent a more contrasting difference. Puerto Morelos is reputed to have been the inspiration for Jimmy Buffet's creation of his hit song 'Margaritaville' and it's very easy to imagine why."
"Very close to Cancún, Playa del Carmen is a highly recommended side trip (about 15 miles away). Also an absolutely great place for souvenir shopping. And as you can see from the photograph, the aqua blue color of the ocean reminds that you're on 'vay-cay.'"
"Wild blue agave spotted on the way to the town of Tequila, about an hour west of Guadalajara, which is harvested and processed for its sugary juice that is transformed into tequila at the nearby Jose Cuervo distillery."
"The Palacio de Belles Artes in Mexico City is on the east side of the huge Alameda Park. It is a neoclassical building with a facade of Carrara marble. It's extremely cheap to tour on your own and I highly recommend it."
