The Gist Steps away from Rick Steves's favorite street (rue Cler), this hotel a good bet for Paris newbies. It's an easy walk to postcard-worthy sites and tourist-friendly cafés. Some of the rooms at Hotel Muguet even have Eiffel Tower views. On the whole, rooms are small, with bathrooms sized for petite Parisians—but good shower pressure, comfy beds, and the English-speaking staff make up for it. Breakfast ($13) is served on a glass-roofed patio looking onto a small garden.

Thanks for Sharing Reader Maryellen McCaffrey returned recently to her favorite hotel near the Eiffel Tower and found that, once again, "it did not disappoint." With confortable beds, good A/C, and easy access to both museums and the Métro, this is great value for the money, in her view.
