About this Hotel

Price From $75

'Hood On a quiet South Beach street just a few blocks from the sand, the convention center, the Bass Museum of Art, and the chic new W Hotel (a hangout for the hottest of the Miami Heat players and other celebs). The restaurants of Lincoln Road and the new Frank Gehry–designed New World Symphony Concert Hall are less than a seven-minute stroll away.

The Vibe Cozy and historic (Ziegfeld Follies star Polly Lux once owned it, and Frank Sinatra wintered here in the 1950s). You’ll feel more like you’re in the West Indies than in the middle of Trend Central. The 1936 suite hotel, with open-air hallways surrounding a wide 400-square-foot courtyard, features classic furnishings mixed with contemporary amenities like flat-screen TVs.

Rooms Each of the 29 rooms has oak floors, freshly painted walls, and a kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, and coffeemaker. The largest are full-size one-bedroom suites with king beds and (on the ground floor) sunrooms with a queen bed. Decor varies, but all have a vibrant feel with rugs, pastel walls, and white bed coverings.

Plus The space—as much as thousand square feet in the biggest suites—is remarkable by South Beach standards. Rates include continental breakfast. The courtyard features hammocks, a small café open for limited hours, and a whirlpool that’s covered so parents don’t have to worry about small children. Parking is often available—another South Beach rarity—and only $20 a night for a spot in the outdoor lot (covered is $25).

Minus Because this is a historic building, there’s no elevator; guests on the second and third floors need to take the stairs. An adjacent building to the east has been shuttered and is slated for construction, which could take several potentially noisy years. When or if it will start is still up in the air. Bathrooms are small.

Free Wi-Fi? Yes.

Credit Cards Accepted AmEx, Discover, MC, Visa

Details Doubles from $75, including breakfast. Low season rates apply June through October.
