The Vibe Preserved details from the building's 1960s roots—a gate elevator, exposed piping, and claw-foot bathtubs—paired with rotating art exhibits secure the hotel's popularity with a younger clientele.

Rooms Each of the 51 guest rooms, save for one, was turned over to an emerging artist for decoration—if you can call Shepard Fairey and Jeremy Fish emerging. The results range from Kelly Tunstall's doe-eyed lady-fish to Chor Boogie's graffiti-inspired faces. Low-slung beds and dark-wood floors add to the atmosphere without drawing the focus from the walls.

Plus You get to stay in an original work of art and in the most central of locations. There's public transportation to anywhere in the city within a few blocks.
