HOW TO ENTER: No purchase necessary. The "Texas Tall Tales Contest” ("Contest") generally runs from 12 p.m. EST on March 3, 2008 through 11:59 a.m. EST on September 3, 2008 (the "Entry Period").

ELIGIBILITY: This sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the United States and District of Columbia residents [excluding TENNESSEE and where prohibited] 18 years of age and older at time of entry.

Entrants must have Internet access by March 3, 2008. Employees and their immediate families, including household members, of Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive (“Sponsor")  and Texas Office of the Governor, Economic Development and Tourism and its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, advertising and promotion agencies are not eligible.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: You must be the registered subscriber of the e-mail account by which the entry is made prior to March 3, 2008.

By entering the Contest, you agree to these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements.  You consent to Sponsor’s use of your name for promotional purposes, including online announcements, without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.  Furthermore, by entering the Contest, you consent to the Sponsor’s and their parents, affiliates and subsidiaries use, reproduction, and display of the “Texas Tall Tale” without further compensation to you.

The “Texas Tall Tale” must be original and you must ensure that you have all the rights necessary to allow the Sponsor to use the “Texas Tall Tale” as set forth herein; It must not infringe on any third party’s intellectual property rights, privacy or publicity rights. Obscene, provocative, pornographic or otherwise questionable content will not be considered.  Sponsors retain sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content.

Entrants must provide their e-mail address and daytime telephone number (for prize verification purposes only) to enter the sweepstakes.  Entrants will also be given the chance to sign up for a free Texas State Travel Guide, courtesy of the Texas Office of the Governor, Economic Development and Tourism.

Incomplete entries will not be counted and Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive.com ("Sponsor"),  and the Texas Office of the Governor, Economic Development and Tourism their parents, nor their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, advertising and promotion agencies, or any telephone network or service providers are not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information, or for any human error, technical malfunctions, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, software, inability to access any Web site or online service, or any other error or malfunction, or late, lost, or misdirected entries.

GRANT.  By entering, you grant the Sponsor the unrestricted, royalty free, perpetual right to display, modify, perform, copy and create a derivative work from your Entry. 

PRIZES: The winner of “Texas Tall Tale” will win the Grand Prize of a Canon Power Shot G9 camera (est. value $500) and an Apple iPhone, 16GB (est. value $500). 

HOW TO WIN: Entries of Texas Tall Tales will be judged by a panel of judges from Budget Travel staff, who will evaluate the entries based upon the following criteria:

Creativity:                                 40%
Humor                                      40%
Topical relevance:                 20%

Using these criteria, the judges will assign a score to each entry and will select the entry with the highest score as the Grand Prize Winner.  In the event of a tie between two possible winners, the judges will select as a winner the entrant with the highest score in the category of “Creativity.” 

The winning entry will be posted on September 5, 2008.  In addition, three (3) winners will be randomly selected from all entrants that sign up.  Each of the three, randomly selected winners, will receive an Apple iPod Touch, 8GB MP3 player (est. value $ 300).

All taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner. Chances of winning are determined by the number of valid entries. No substitutions, exchanges, refunds or compensation will be made for any reason, including cancellation of the sweepstakes.

The Sponsor’s decisions are final with respect to all aspects of the sweepstakes. The prize winner will be notified by the supplied telephone number only. In the case that a winner cannot be contacted within one (1) business week of the contest drawing, an alternate will be declared the winner.

The winner is required to sign an affidavit of eligibility/publicity and liability release, and return it properly executed, within two (2) business weeks of attempted notification as a condition of awarding the prize. If prize notification is returned as undeliverable or the winner fails to return the affidavit and release as specified, the winner will be disqualified and an alternate winner will be declared the winner. If sufficient alternates cannot be notified prior to October 25, 2008, all unawarded prizes will be forfeited.

If, in Sponsor’s opinion, there is any suspected or actual evidence of electronic or non-electronic tampering with any portion of the "Texas Tall Tales Contest”, or if technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the Contest, the Sponsor reserves the right to terminate the sweepstakes and conduct a random drawing to award the prize using all entries received as of the termination date. Any attempt to deliberately damage the drawing or operation of this sweepstakes is unlawful and subject to legal action by the Sponsor or its agents.

GENERAL: This contest is subject to all federal, state, and local laws. Void in Tennessee and where prohibited. The winner agrees that the Sponsor, Texas Office of the Governor, Economic Development and Tourism, their parents, affiliates and its agencies and their respective officers, employees, managers, agents, successors or assignees shall not be liable for injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting from participating in this sweepstakes or from the acceptance or use of any prize awarded. The Sponsor reserves the right to verify eligibility qualifications of any winner. U.S. law governs this sweepstakes.

All submitted entries become the property of Budget Travel Magazine. Submitted entries may or may not be publicly displayed, at the sole discretion of Budget Travel. The submitted entries may be displayed on Budgettravel.com indefinitely. Budget Travel may also license third parties to display the videos

WINNERS LIST: For the name of the winner, after October 25, 2008, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Contests @ WPNI, P.O. Box 17370, Arlington, VA, 22216-7370, and include the text: "Texas Tall Tales Contest”. Requests received more than sixty (60) days after October 25, 2008 will not be honored.
