Zonder is a good resource for vacation rentals easily searchable by interest. For skiers, the Woods Manor condo in Breckenridge, Colo., would be a good choice. The condo has a kitchen and sleeps up to six people; rates start at $125 per reservation per night.

Eighteen ski resorts in the Reno/Lake Tahoe area are offering customizable packages. The lowest rate of $138 per room per night is available at the Montego Bay Wing of the Peppermill Resort in Reno. It covers accommodations and two lift tickets (a $128 value) for the Mount Rose Ski Resort in Tahoe, about 25 minutes away. The hotel offers free shuttle service to the Reno airport and some of the ski resorts, but not to Mount Rose—transportation to that resort will cost $15 per person each way, but the hotel will arrange it for you.
