Why It's a Deal According to a recent Kayak search, the lowest round-trip airfare between Phoenix and Kona, departing on May 20, is $689 (U.S. Airways). For an additional $245 per person, including all taxes, this vacation package covers the round-trip airfare as well as the three-night stay.
Trip Details The Keauhou Beach Resort package includes round-trip airfare to Kona on U.S. Airways and three nights' accommodations on the Kona coast of the Big Island, 12 miles from the airport. The oceanfront resort boasts six tennis courts, a fitness center, a swimming pool, and the full-service Kalona Salon & Spa.
Dining and entertainment options include the Kamaaina Terrace, an open-air restaurant that offers picturesque views of the Kona Coast, the ocean-view Verandah Lounge, which offers locally brewed Kona beer and nightly live entertainment; and the ocean-side take-out joint, Kalanikai Bar & Grill.
The 309 rooms are decorated in the island style—tropical prints, wicker and rattan furnishings, and Hawaiian art—and each has a private lanai (balcony).
The resort property is next door to the Big Island's snorkeling hot spot, Kahaluu Bay Beach Park, and three miles from the historic seaport village Kailua-Kona Town.
