In Hong Kong, the Chinese New Year--which will kick off the year 4706 on February 7--is celebrated over a three-day public holiday. The party begins with a massive parade on the first day, a fireworks display over Victoria Harbour on the second, and a horse race on the third. But things are festive even before the official celebrations begin: Flower vendors take over public squares, skyscrapers display neon good-luck characters, and nearly every doorway is draped in orange and red banners proclaiming peace and prosperity.
